Hi everyone! My inspiration today is a layout featuring my nieces, but as it also includes my brother-in-law, I didn’t want to make it too girly so have balanced the flowers with the blueprint wordpack and the mini addition crosses.
Starting with the title, I have used a combination of burgundy, copper and bronze waxes to make this rich red brown colour. When applying waxes, it is better to pat on a thinnish layer and then use the heat from your fingers to then spread that out. This will prevent you adding too much wax which then fills in the intricate cut outs in the chipboard.
I then used the straight copper coloured wax on the mini addition pieces, using a combination of the larger and smaller size crosses. A tip here is to use an odd number of clusters (I have three) and an odd number of crosses in each cluster (I have two cluster of three and a cluster of five crosses).
I have used one of the lovely little songbirds and painted it up using acrylic paints that are in the background paper. I particularly like the dimension that having the separate wing layered on top gives to the bird.
I then coloured the Beautiful Moments wordstrip from the Word Strips 2 pack using the same colour wax as the title words. I love the effect that the waxes give as they have a beautiful luster.
I hope you have a chance to get some creative time in soon.
Happy scrapping
