Hi!Most of my work is commissioned and I really like this aspect – I never know what awaits me in my next project. People’s likes can be quite varied – and I really like these challenges. Today, therefore, I present you a layout made for a couple who have been regularly ordering gifts for their friends from me for a long time. The difference is, that this time it’s a surprise for them, from their friends. The layout is stiffened on a frame covered with linen. You are more than welcome to read more details.

The base is a beautiful sheet of paper number 10 from the Breeze of Dreams collection by Margaret Paper Design additionally secured from the bottom with a beermat sheet. The structure is solid, durable and comfortable because it can be hung on the wall. Paper’s edges are distressed by fraying and touch with Distress Collage Medium by Ranger and sewn three times on the machine with a marine shade of thread. I secured the whole sheet with a clear gesso from Finnabair, waited for it to dry and applied a pattern from two different Dusty Attic masks: knitting with Distress Cracle from Ranger and creative script with Golden Nugget from Finnabair. The second paste has a very interesting effect: is glossy, sparkling and grainy for a vintage finish.
Using Ranger’s mists in the shades of denim, eggplant and espresso, I adjusted the color slightly so that it protrudes from under the composition and touch it all around. I tried to make the pattern in longitudinal lines – it slightly slenderizes the composition. On the other hand, I emphasized the creative script mask with a rose gold wax from Finnabair.
I tore the paper diagonally along its entire length, then frayed the edges, distressed and taped them with a delicate heather tulle. I tied a rather impressive bow out of it a little below the half its length. In the middle of the work, I placed a photo of a happy couple in a beautifully decorated frame. You can watch the whole process of decorating the frame in the IGTV film on my IG profile. I made decorations around the photo using 3D pearls from Dovecraft.
Around the frame on both sides, I arranged flowers made by me from the remains of the same paper collection, using Spellbinders dies. You can also see white flowers from 49 & Market, die-cut leaves, chippy butterflies, a piece of film tape designed by Tim Holtz and a balloon from a die. I often cut shapes two or three times and glue them together as I like them to be more massive.
Above the frame and under it, I have fitted the charming swirls available in the set. I painted them, as well as the balloon, butterflies and the quote – with gold rose wax from Finnabair. I decorated the swirls with 3D pearls. Hidden among the flowers is a road sign indicating important stops in the couple’s life. It’s nice that the badges are empty and you can enter your own direction of travel – well done Margaret! You will find it on a sheet for cutting in the aforementioned Breeze of Dreams collection, as well as the inscription “life is a beautiful journey”. Above the quote there is also a wonderful badge with the words “happiness is …”, and on the top right there are the words best friends and together forever in white, thanks to seafoam white embossing powder from Papermania. Finally, I splashed my work with a black gesso.
