Hi everyone! I am back with some more inspiration from this month’s beautiful mood board. There is no doubt that this month’s mood board suits a layout about love, so I chose to scrapbook a recent selfie of my husband and I when we went on a day trip on the Trans-Alpine railway in the South Island of Ne Zealand. It wasn’t the best weather but we had an amazing day anyway.
From the huge range of Dusty Attic chipboard, I chose some textural elements from the Discover custom mixed chipboard, a title, word strips, foliage and a butterfly for this layout. I will take you through what I have used and what techniques I applied.
I started with the title, going with an ombre effect with a pink red at the top going to a lighter version of this colour on the bottom. I used the same colours on the “love this” word circle (which is from the Discover custom mixed chipboard sheet). The darker colour is in the middle and the lighter colour on the outside circle. I finished both pieces with dimensional magic to really make them pop.
I painted the broken circle pieces from the Discover custom mixed chipboard sheet with black paint and then sprayed it with a dark grey mica spray which gave it a beautiful sparkle.
The butterfly was painted pink with white paint sponged through the middle and finished with glitter. The word strips were also painted pink and then finished with dimensional magic.
There are a couple of little banner flags which are also from the Discover custom mixed chipboard sheet, tucked under the paper flowers on the left. I used the pink red colour from the title on this and made polka dots with dimensional magic to add extra interest. I love how this turned out and will use this technique in the future. The smaller banner flag is done the same way as the broken circle pieces – paint and mica spray.
The last piece is the foliage. My love affair with foliage and berries continues and for this layout I painted the leaves and stems green and used the dark pink red for the berries. Touches of dimensional magic on the berries makes them come to life. The berries were snipped from a piece in the foliage clusters 3 set, which I had left over from using the leaves on another layout. Chipboard is great because it is easy to cut up and use the different bits.
