Hello there lovely Dusty Attic Fans, Farrel here today to share my interpretation of this month’s mood board challenge. And can I just say, I love this mood board!!! The theme and colours are right up my alley!!!

Seaside Escape by Farrel Tailor

For my background papers I used 49 and Market Captured Adventures – The Journey and Far Away Land. I used Paper Artsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint – Mermaid and Caribbean Sea and white gesso for the background colour of the layout.

I covered all my chipboard pieces in white gesso and used Paper Artsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint – Mermaid and Caribbean Sea to cover the starfish, page pebble and wordpl@y (seaside escape). Then applied some archival ink in Sepia and Coffee to add the different tones for brown. I also dry brushed the flowers with white gesso to tone the colour down.

For the ship wheel I heat embossed using Stampendous Aged Taupe Embossing Enamel. I tore a piece of corrugated cardstock and using my finger rubbed some white gesso around the edges. To colour the cheesecloth I used Prima Color Bloom spray – Summer Sky and 13 Arts Ayeeda Chalk Mist – Turquoise.

To finish off the layout I added some art stones and glass beads.

I have been scrapping for about 18/19 years. My go-to is flowers (and more flowers), and chipboard. I also love fussy cutting (I always laugh at the patience I have to cut out the most intricate detail, but I have no patience in queues!). I love adding texture to my layouts with texture pastes and stencils, as well as layering papers and elements. I will also dabble a little in some inks and paints on my layouts.

Scrapbooking is a way to combine two of my hobbies, a way to express my creativity and to showcase my photos. Since I began to scrap, flowers are part of my layouts, and I gradually started to use mixed media as well. I don’t know how to define my style, perhaps something like free vintage shabby style could be a good definition.
