Captured Moments – Cathy Cafun – Mood Board Inspiration

Hi Everyone!!
Cathy here, and I’m so excited to be sharing my first post as a new member of the Dusty Attic Design Team.  Today I have my take on this month’s gorgeous Mood Board Challenge.  There is an amazing prize of a $100 Dusty Attic Gift Voucher up for grabs.  To enter you simply need to use the Mood Board for inspiration, which you can interpret any way you like.  The only requirement is that you use Dusty Attic chipboard on your creation.  Once you have completed your project, simply link it to the right side bar of the Dusty Attic Blog.

and here is the September Mood Board

Adore this month’s Mood Board… so many ways to inspire you with the yummy textures – hard and soft, lovely muted brown, cream and blue colour palette and beautiful inspiration pics.  The distressed weatherboard, pussy willows and colour palette were the inspiration for my layout.
Captured Moments
I was drawn to the distressed weatherboard photo in the Mood Board as I love the textured and rustic feel of it, which I have incorporated in various elements on my layout by tearing, distressing and building up of layers and textures.
To create texture on my background I have stencilled with the Dusty Attic Creative Script Stencil and Dusty Attic Texture Paste.  Once dry I randomly stamped my background with a distressed weatherboard stamp in two tones of brown ink, then flicked over the background with a  few blue and soft gold mists to soften the overall effect.
I just love the Berries and Branches chippie!!  I altered the chipboard by sponging with a mix of Dusty Attic Acrylic Paint in Hot Chocolate and Gingernut and a touch of warm cream from my stash, then lightly sponging with cream and finishing off with a touch of Hot Chocolate.
Microbeads are a fabulous way to add texture and I have used them to alter my chipboard berries, by applying them with Dusty Attic Clear Gloss Varnish.  I also used a touch of gold microbeads on the leaves by dipping a small brush in the gloss varnish then picking up some microbeads, and randomly brushing over the leaves.
I think the Dusty Attic Word Packs will be a firm favourite.  There are so many fabulous fonts and styles to choose from!!  Love the pretty script from the Word Pack #34.  I have used ‘captured’ word which I altered by coating with the Dusty Attic Faded Denim acrylic paint, then applying a coat of the Dusty Attic Clear Crackle Varnish.

To frame my photo and add a feminine touch, I have used the beautiful Lacey Nameplate chippie, which I coated with Dusty Attic acrylic paint.  First I sponged with Hot Chocolate, then lightly sponged here and there with Gingernut to create some depth.
The Dusty Attic Blooms were given a grungy weathered look by lightly applying cream paint, then using the Dusty Attic Hot Chocolate acrylic paint on the stamens.
To finish off I have added a touch of lace to my torn layers and hessian twine to frame my photo and draw the eye, as well as a couple of cute glass heart beads from my stash.

Here are all the Dusty Attic goodies I have used to create my layout.
