Beautiful – Adri Du Preez

Hello everyone!
I am sharing my February design team project with you. I cannot believe we are already midway through the second month of 2019! Time flies….
This is a photo of my daughter holding a bunch of Cosmos. I am always fascinated by the abundance of cosmos growing on the roadside, and by the fleeting nature of their existence. On their own, they bloom everywhere under the blessing of the sun. Cosmos may not be the most luxurious and exotic flower, but they can put up a show as well as any other type of flower. They are so worthwhile photographing.

Here is my layout – Beautiful

To create the background I randomly stamped with a script stamp. I then dabbed Distress Oxides {Picked Rasberry, Worn Lipstick, Lucky Clover and Mowed Lawn} on plastic packaging.  Spitz with water, fold in half, opened and randomly dabbed the plastic to the background until I achieved the desired look.

Then I used the Dusty Attic Leaves stencil with gesso and embossing powder to create more texture to the background. I used Zing Metallic Finish in green and Iced Enamels Relique Powder.

The next step was to colour all the chipboard.  Here are some close-ups.

I coloured the chippies using Versamagic dewdrop chalk ink pads in Pink Petunia, Red Magic, Aloe Vera and Hint of Pesto. I then rubbed them with Prima Metallique Wax in Vintage Gold.  I coloured the title with black Archival Ink.

I rolled back the tips of the flower buds for more dimension. The wonderful thickness of the Dusty Attic chippies allows you to wet them a bit and roll the edges.

When everything was glued down I added pearl beads and made splatters with white gesso and black ink.

Some more close-ups.

These are the Dusty Attic chipboard pieces that I used.
