Hello Sweeties,
Today I’m up on Dusty Attic blog with a new mixed media panel. I chose a photo from Denis Chekanov: the Joker. I love the idea of this wildcard character.
I covered the canvas with tissue paper. Next, I applied some Plaster and Modeling pastes. When dry, I added a design with the Metal Plate stencil and White Crackle paste.
I primed all the chipboards and the resin gear with black gesso. I colored the pieces of the Number Panel with the Red Amber wax and the Old Coins with the White Gold wax.
Next, I used an old trick to alter the industrial elements. I covered the Cogs, the Industrial Border, the Chains, and the top of the Industrial Globes with white glue. While the glue was still wet, I dried it with a heat gun until it bubbled. When the bubbles cool, they wrinkle and this is what I was looking for.
Next, I painted everything with black gesso again. I used waxes to highlight all the details.
I primed the resin skulls with white gesso and used Ink Black paint to add some shadow.
I painted the background with different shades of blue and green to match the color of the photo. When happy with the color, I dry-brushed the whole canvas with white gesso to bring back the details and the texture.
After gluing all the elements of the composition, I added microbeads and glitters as the final touch.
